The Season
I hope that now with the great weather here in Florida I will be posting to this blog more often. I now have a job that affords me more free time and Florida has duly obliged by going into hiking season in glorious fashion.

Yesterday as I was driving East on State Road 50 away from Orlando and towards the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge I spotted a Bald Eagle flying at quite a clip. It was flying parallel with my car which made for quite an awesome angle and view. Then, ahead of the bald eagle, I spotted an Osprey flying in an erratic motion - up and down, side to side - when it struck me. The Bald Eagle was chasing this Osprey and I had a front row seat. After a few more seconds the Bald Eagle caught up with the Osprey and fought with it in mid-air. By this point I was slightly beyond the duo but through the glass of my rear-view I saw the Bald Eagle eventually become victorious.
I had never really seen anything of this sort while out in the open spaces of Florida, but even with the death of one of my favorite birds, I appreciated the luck and awe of this great moment.
It also speaks to a bigger idea. It is a very quick and honest reminder that no matter your place on the food chain, you can always become food.

If you don’t take advantage of Spring Training in Florida you’re missing out on a very fun and cheap way to enjoy being outside during the amazing weather Florida has to offer in March.

Why am I starting this? Well, to be put it simply; I have a job that requires me to be indoors for 40-50hrs a week which is a huge buzz kill. So on my two days off a week (Sunday and Tuesday), I plan to do an outdoor activity whenever possible. I will blog about my adventures here and if I can convince one person to get up and go outside on their day off to enjoy what beautiful and natural things that surround us, then I will feel my mission is accomplished.
I am based out of Orlando, Florida which is not particularly known for it’s great natural beauty but most, if not all, of my trips will be considered “day” trips from the Greater Orlando area – hopefully with a few longer, surprise trips thrown in the mix. So they will be relatively easy trips around Central Florida and won’t put a huge dent in your wallet with the rising cost of gas.
I will try and provide as much information as possible on each trip, including where I stay, eat, explore, and everything in between.
So lets take advantage of the natural beauty that surrounds this great state called Florida and really embrace it. I am fortunate enough to live here and want to share all of the great things Florida has to offer with as many people as I can.
Let’s get up and go outside Florida.
